Born in Bogor, Indonesia, she grew up in Europe during WWII, where she had the good fortune to personally see works by the old Masters as well as the Avant Garde .
Her work is greatly influenced by Kandinski, Karel Appel and Braque.

Gert Martini is a colorist who paints in a variety of mediums
and plays with paper collage. She translates the essence of ideas into visual
images and strives to portray emotional content in every piece. Her ideas
are first turned into abstractions before being brought back to a somewhat
