Deanie and her family came to the Longview/Kelso community in 1962 from
Medford, Oregon. Art had played a prominent role in the first 32 years of
her life in southwest Oregon, where she gives much of the credit to her
Medford High School art instructor Paul Gasperotti for his encouragement. While residing in the local Longview/Kelso community for over forty years, Deanie became well known to local art lovers. She became a featured artist at the very popular Edgelake Art Show when it was an annuak event at Sacajawea Lake in the 1970’s. It was not uncommon for her to show as many as fifty pieces of art at those exhibits. At present, her work can be seen in her art studio at her home in the Butler Acres area of Kelso. Her art inventory is of a wide variety and features a substantial number of seascapes with the influence of the Oregon coast, as well as landscapes , still life, florals, and many other pieces of art in all mediums. Deanie had been commissioned to provide dozens of paintings for private parties and businesses. Her works have been purchased by local financial institutions, both local hospitals (in the 70’s), and was commissioned to augment the collection of paintings at Hotel Monticello when it underwent a major rehabilitation. Deanie credits the following art instructors who she has studied with: Leoni Bolero Water color artist Charles Mulvey Seascape artist and instructor Byron Pickering Art and Design classes at LCC taught by Martha Bentgen |
