As a native Oregonian, my love for Pacific Northwest
landscapes comes naturally. Painting allows me to focus on and celebrate
the things in life that I find good and meaningful and share them with my
viewers. The qualities of luminosity and high color intensity make watercolors
especially exciting for me. My higher education began with art studies at the University of Oregon, but the practical side of me won out: I changed my major to elementary education and spent the next 30 years of my life teaching in Oregon and Alaska. During those years I satisfied my passion for travel. My desire to select, compose and retain memorable moments was met through photography. With the free time provided by retirement, my original enthusiasm for painting has been rekindled. I am continuing to refine my techniques in watercolor and other mediums through experimentation, community college classes, and workshops with various artists in many locales. |
