In high school, my interest was in aerospace engineering so when I entered Oregon State College, I enrolled as an engineering student. I considered my art as a side interest....a hobby. At the end of my sophomore year, however, I changed my major to art and transfered to the University of Oregon where I received a BA degree. Wanting to advance my art training, I applied, and was accepted, at the University of Washington where I earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree.
Following the U of W, I worked for the Boeing Company as a graphic illustrator and as a technical illustrator before becoming a high school teacher. I taught shop classes, mechanical drawing, art and also extension art classes at the Clackamas Community College and Mt. Hood Community College.
I have been retired for eleven years. When my wife, Jane, and I moved to the Toutle area, we built an art studio next to our home. Our studio, the Twosome Art Studio/Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday. I have become active with the Columbian Artists Association and am a member of Artrails. Today, I work mostly in watercolors but occasionally do works in oils and mixed media. My work is on exhibit, on a rotation schedule, at the Merc, the Cowlitz County Health Center, the Kelso Pub and the Country Corner Restaurant. During the last two weeks, every Septemeber, our studio is part of the annual Artrails Studio Tour and I will have an art piece, at the Artrails Galla Event, which is held at the old Railroad Station in Centrailia, Washington.
